This Privacy Policy explains how SkillDirectory (“SkillDirectory,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use skilldirectory.dev (the “Site”). We are an online service and can be reached at admin@skilldirectory.dev.
We extend the privacy rights described below to all users in the United States, whatever state you live in.
Information you give us:
Information collected automatically:
We do not collect payment card details, precise location, or sensitive personal information as defined by state privacy laws.
We show ads on the Site through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve, personalize, limit, and measure ads, including ads based on your visits to this and other websites. They collect and use the information described in section 2 for this purpose, under Google's own privacy policy.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites on the Internet.
Your advertising choices:
Under some US state privacy laws, letting an advertising partner collect identifiers and browsing activity for personalized ads can count as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. You can opt out using the choices above. We do not otherwise sell your personal information for money.
We also disclose personal information to service providers that process it for us: hosting and infrastructure (Vercel), our database (Neon), DNS and email routing (Cloudflare), and an email delivery provider for account emails. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of the business (in which case we will tell you and the same protections will continue to apply).
The Site loads fonts from Google Fonts, so your IP address and browser details are sent to Google when a page loads, under Google's own privacy policy. Skill pages link out to GitHub, which has its own privacy policy.
We do not run our own analytics or cross-site tracking. There is no uniform standard for Do Not Track signals, and we do not currently change how third-party ad cookies work in response to them, so please use the choices in section 4.
We keep account information while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information, except where we need to keep it for legal, security, or fraud-prevention reasons.
We protect information with HTTPS, hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as required by law.
Depending on where you live (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and other states with privacy laws), you may have the right to:
To make a request, email admin@skilldirectory.dev from the address on your account with the subject “Privacy request.” We will verify your identity using your account email, and we respond within 45 days (we may extend this once by 45 days where the law allows and will tell you why). You may use an authorized agent.
If we deny a request, you can appeal by replying to our response, and we will answer within the time your state's law requires (up to 60 days). If you are still not satisfied, you may contact your state attorney general.
In the past 12 months we collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (name, email address, IP address, cookie IDs); account credentials (a hashed password); and internet or network activity (pages requested, technical logs, and interactions with ads). We collect them from you and your device, for the purposes in section 3.
We disclose these categories to the service providers in section 4 for business purposes. Since we began showing ads (September 2026), we have made identifiers and internet or network activity available to Google and its advertising partners, which may count as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You can opt out as described in section 4.
We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. We keep information as described in section 6.
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them (see the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, COPPA). If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email admin@skilldirectory.dev and we will delete it. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
Our servers and service providers are located in the United States. If you use the Site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new “Last updated” date and, for material changes, give notice on the Site or by email. If we ever add analytics or paid features, we will update this policy first.
